Calvin H. Cherry

Calvin H. Cherry was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, and relocated to rural Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee, at age fifteen. In 1988 he joined the Navy as a Radioman where he spent a year in San Diego, two years in Sicily, and twelve months onboard the USS Thorn (DD-988) during the commission of Operation Desert Storm.

When his enlistment ended in 1992, he moved back to Marietta where he met his first spouse Lisa, whom he married in 1994, and relocated to Kennesaw, Georgia. At this time he began a twelve year career with the Canada Life Assurance Company holding various positions within the Claims and Technology departments. During his tenure there he acted as publisher and/or contributing writer for several firm newsletters and worked as a technical writer for creating procedure and system manuals.

In 2002 he earned an undergraduate degree in Business management from Kennesaw State University and celebrated with Lisa the birth of their only child, Jacob Parker Cherry.

In 2005 Calvin joined ZC Sterling (now known as QBE) Insurance Agency in Atlanta as a Business Analyst. In 2009 he earned a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Six Sigma Green Belt certifications, and retired from the Navy Reserve as an Information Technician First Class Petty Officer.

Calvin divorced and remarried in 2015 and is a member of the City of Light Church in Atlanta, Georgia where he serves in their choir. Calvin’s hobbies include music, movies, literature, hiking, and traveling. He currently lives in Hiram, GA with his spouse Kevin Scott Bilbrey and their cat Francis and works as a Business Systems Analyst for Assurant in Marietta.
