About This Book

The Flower of Canaan by Tim Flood is available for preorder. It will ship on or before its release date of August 18, 2026.

A forbidden love. A brutal betrayal. A woman who dares the gods, and pays the price.

In the ancient city of Beit Shahar, Anat has always obeyed her father, her husband, her gods. But when love tempts her to break the rules of her world, one act of defiance sets off a chain of betrayal and loss that will destroy everything she knows.

Branded a sinner and cast out, Anat must fight to survive in a land where mercy is rare and women’s voices are silenced. As war and faith tear her home apart, she discovers a strength even the gods could not foresee—a strength born of grief, courage, and the desperate will to reclaim her freedom.

From the shimmering sands of Canaan to the fires of rebellion, The Flower of Canaan is a haunting story of love’s power to both shatter and remake us. Tim Flood brings the Bronze Age to life in all its beauty and brutality, capturing one woman’s battle to rise from ruin and challenge the gods who betrayed her.

For readers of The Red Tent, Circe, and The Silence of the Girls, this unforgettable tale asks: how much can one heart endure before it becomes legend?

About the Author

Tim Flood — I write about characters shaking off childhood conditioning to deepen relationships and fulfill their potential. My forthcoming novel, available on Amazon preorder, "The Flower of Canaan," explores the roots of society’s conditioning and troubling beliefs about women in this story about a young woman, Anat, in the 13th century before Jesus in the land of Canaan. I also authored a nonfiction book, Islands Apart: Chronicles of Family Healing (1999), about teen addiction, their journeys, and their families’ response. My short story, “Spaceman,” was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. I am retired from a tech career at Stanford University and consulting. I live with my wife near San Francisco.
