The story The German Officer's Secret...
She heard it from her husband’s father, Israel Frayon, who survived the Holocaust during World War II. After the war, during the High Holidays, having lost his entire family, Israel wished to recreate the atmosphere of the home that had been destroyed. He decided to spend the holiday in a Jewish synagogue, where he met other Jewish refugees like himself. During the break between prayers, the refugees told one another how they had survived. The story described in my book was the most astonishing among them. It left the listeners speechless. Everyone saw the surprising ending as a miracle. The book received an award in Israel from the Ghetto Fighters' House Museum.
