Histria Classics

Histria Classics recovers fiction that shaped its era but has since gone out of print — novels that were widely read and culturally significant when first published, now unavailable in any quality modern edition. The imprint launched with IT by Elinor Glyn (1927), the novel that gave the English language the concept of “It” — a quality of personal magnetism, immediately recognizable and impossible to define. Glyn’s novel was a cultural phenomenon in the Jazz Age, adapted to a silent film starring Clara Bow. Each Histria Classics edition includes a new introduction placing the work in its historical and cultural context. All titles are distributed by Simon & Schuster.
